La Jolla

This afternoon we explored the beautiful coastal town of La Jolla. In many ways this town reminded us of places we visited in Europe -- small boutiques, narrow breezeways, the descent to the park/ocean, many different languages being spoken by other visitors... La Jolla is truly a vacation destination with great shopping and beautiful beaches.

The La Jolla Cove (pictured above) claims to be the most photographed spot in Southern California. It's a small beach, but there are tidepools to explore, snorkelers and scuba divers right off shore and pelicans on sandstone cliffs to watch. Needless to say, there is a lot going on in this small beach. We even saw a bride having photographs taken with her wedding party while we were there. It's no wonder everyone flocks to this town -- it's gorgeous!
.
It had been a long day for the kids with some activites in the morning and a very short afternoon nap, so it was no surprise both fell asleep quickly on the drive home. You know Thomas is tired if he falls asleep in the car, but with half a granola bar in one hand, too? The poor kid! He'll definitely be sleeping soundly tonight.
