our Christmas

We were in Portland from (Thursday) the 22nd until December 31st.  There wasn't a good time for us to have our own Christmas celebration before the trip so we were left doing it once we returned.  It wasn't ideal to do it today since it was the after our long travel day.  Plus, Mike has to work tomorrow morning but if we didn't do it then then it would have been put off another full week.  Honestly, I was already done with Christmas by the time we left Portland so I just wanted to do it and get it over with.

Although we had a nice Christmas celebration at my mom's house and enjoyed several holiday gatherings while there, it made our own Christmas feel a bit disjointed.  Next year I'm going to have to figure something else out.  I don't want to do it again like this.  Of course, the kids didn't mind celebrating Christmas at our house a full week after the date, but it just wasn't the same - for me, anyway.

On a happier note, these two were very patient and waited until after lunch to open stockings and presents.  The morning was quiet and relaxing as we all enjoyed being home after the travel day before.  And apparently these two have been extra good kids this year because Santa brought them both lots of presents that made them very, very happy!
