USS Midway

the Midway as seen during her working years

San Diego's Aircraft Carrier Museum (on the USS Midway) has been on our list of places to visit since we moved here almost a year ago, so today - knowing how much the kids would also like it - we decided to visit the battleship. This was an outing the whole family enjoyed.

Thomas and his dad loved climbing in and out of cockpits.

Meredith didn't like sitting here.
Look at all those switches, gauges, dials, etc.!!

A bit of San Diego with the Coronado Bridge in the distance seen from the flight deck.

It was a beautiful, sunny and warm day to be out and a perfect day for this museum visit. We haven't ventured into the city of San Diego much but after driving around this morning (this museum is on the Embarcadero downtown) we've decided to explore something new one Saturday every month. There's so much to see and do! San Diego is a huge tourist destination and the sights along the Embarcadero are definitely hot on the "to do" lists since the cruise ships harbor here. There's all of that to see and experience as well as fun things to do all around the city. I was reminded again today of how lucky we are to live in this area where so many come to vacation.
