out with the old, in with the new

Today was a pretty exciting day at our house.  Not only did the Merecedes get towed away (donated to a local humane society), but Uncle Earl showed up!  The kids have been anxiously awaiting his arrival, esp. Meredith.  She has been telling everyone that her Uncle is coming.  It's very sweet to watch and hear but at the same time we couldn't help but know it might be a bit overwhelming for Earl.  Afterall, he's young and doesn't have much experience with children.  Meredith made him drawings and craft projects, both at home and at preschool.  Fortunately, Earl was friendly and didn't mind the sudden outpouring of attention when he walked into our house.  Earl is Mike's youngest brother -- an independent, intelligent and adventurous 24 year old who will be stationed at Camp Pendleton.  He's staying a few days with us this week while he gets himself squared away in the area.  The kids already want him to stay longer.  It'll be fun for all of us to get to know this young man!
