Today we enjoyed a local Avocado Festival with an estimated crowd of 70,000 visitors. Yes, an entire festival dedicated to this most delicious fruit. We've been to the Elephant Garlic Festival outside Portland and enjoyed all the different garlic-infused foods (and drinks!). I was expecting the same sort of thing and was a wee disappointed there weren't more avocado-based foods to sample. But they did have this pretty amazing guacamole paired with the perfect dipping tortilla chip that we all enjoyed. I also saw some avocado ice cream and some sort of baked good made with avocados. For "the friendly village" aka "avocado capital of the world", Fallbrook puts on a pretty large (and yummy!) festival.
