goodbye, friend

One of our very first friends here was this little girl, Felicity.  It was close to their 1st birthdays when we met!  She and Meredith always had a great time together at all the playgroup activities.  They are close in age and have similar interests.  They've taken classes together.  We did rotating weekly drop-off playgroups with the two of them and another little girl when they were just 3 years old.  Once preschool began our schedules got a little tighter so we haven't seen each other as often as we used to, but we still would make time here and there to meet up at a park.  Today we met up for a picnic and some park play and to say our goodbyes.  They've sold their house and plan to move to Orange County soon, but are spending the interim at her parents' house east of San Diego.  Sure, we could say we'll play again soon, but the reality is we won't.  And that's just how life goes.  However, the true beauty of social media today is that we will keep in touch, at least in that way.  And we plan to have the girls send notes, cards, drawings, etc. to each other -- they'll love this!
